         There are many reasons for the increase in fuel consumption. Today, let’s talk about the influence of the oxygen sensor on fuel consumption, which is a component that everyone usually pays little attention to. When the oxygen sensor is normal, it will not affect the fuel consumption. Only when it fails to work properly, the value will be inaccurate to affect the fuel consumption. The oxygen sensor is installed on the exhaust pipe. Its function is to detect the oxygen content in the exhaust gas to determine the combustion state and then correct the fuel injection volume. For example, if the oxygen content in the exhaust gas is too high, it means that the air-fuel ratio is incorrect. There is more air and less gasoline. The gasoline is burned out but there is a lot of oxygen remaining, that is, there is too little fuel injection and the mixture is too thin. Then the signal of the oxygen sensor is sent to the engine computer, and the engine computer will control to inject a little more fuel to achieve the best air-fuel ratio. On the contrary, when the oxygen content is too low, it means the mixture is too rich. At this time, it is necessary to reduce the fuel injection volume and always keep the mixture near the theoretical air-fuel ratio. Therefore, when the oxygen sensor is working normally, it has a positive effect on the combustion state, emissions, fuel consumption, etc.
 
 
         The normal operating temperature of the oxygen sensor is about 300 degrees, so the oxygen sensor cannot work normally when the cool car is on fire. However, in order to allow the oxygen sensor to reach the normal temperature as soon as possible, heating sensors are now used, which automatically heat up when the car is cold, and can quickly reach the working temperature. The open-loop control and closed-loop control of the engine that everyone knows usually sounds very profound, but in fact it is about whether the oxygen sensor is involved in the work. The participation of oxygen sensor is called closed loop control, and the participation of oxygen sensor is open loop control. The closed-loop control can maintain the air-fuel ratio near the theoretical value, so that the gasoline can finish the combustion, so the oxygen sensor has a very large correction effect on the fuel.
 
         If the signal transmitted by the oxygen sensor is inaccurate and keeps giving the engine computer a signal that the oxygen content is too high, the computer will control multiple fuel injections, causing the mixture to be too rich and fuel consumption will increase. In most cases, if the oxygen sensor is broken, there will be a fault code, and the engine fault light will be on, telling the driver to repair it in time. But sometimes it is not completely broken, just the work is not very sensitive, no fault code will be generated, the engine fault light is not on, the driver will not know, and the fuel consumption will increase inexplicably. In this case, only by checking the data stream can you know that the oxygen sensor is abnormal. Under normal circumstances, its data has been changing. If it changes only once for a long time, it means there is a fault.
 
 

         The main reason for the broken oxygen sensor is poisoning, which is the same as the three-way catalytic damage, and it is also caused by bad gasoline. Excessive lead content in gasoline will cause the oxygen sensor to be damaged over time. Therefore, if the three-way catalyst is generally broken, the life of the oxygen sensor is approaching. According to empirical observations, cars with oxygen sensors often broken are refueled at small private gas stations. It can be driven when the car is broken, but the fuel cannot be corrected. In many cases, the air-fuel ratio cannot reach the best condition, which will cause problems such as increased fuel consumption, incomplete combustion, and substandard emissions. So it must be replaced in time, it cannot be cleaned or repaired.
